Otoplasty is a procedure of cosmetic surgery employed to adjust the shape or size of the ear. The most frequently performed form of otoplasty is often referred to as “ear pinning” Dr Yazdanfar. When the ears are extending out too great a distance from the head “ear pinning” is performed to make them sit closer to the head. The conventional wisdom is that it is better if the patient is younger. Solong as the ears are fully formed the surgical operation can be carried through with. Commonly, the ears have developed as much as they are going to by age four. The cartilage of younger patients’ ears is more tractable and a better result is achieved with the procedure. Otoplasty is performed on adult patients as well, but it is problematic to form the cartilage in adult ears.
Dr Yazdanfar says “Ear pinning” is most commonly completed utilizing a local anesthetic with sedation. The surgeon makes an incision in the crease behind the ear. The surgeon will then shape skin and cartilage to produce the desired outcome and close the incisions with stitches. Commonly ordinary activities can be restored a week when the sutures can be taken out by Dr B Yazdanfar, and special care must be observed for about about a month while healing progresses.
