Facial implants are prosthetic appliances deposited under the skin of the patient’s face to alter the underlying structure to improve the form of specific features of the chin, cheek, or lower jaw.
Dr Yazdanfar suggests thatDuring the surgical operation for a chin implantation, the surgeon chooses the applicable size and shape for the implant to augment the patient’s appearance and encloses it into a pouch over the front of the jawbone. The small incision is made following the lower lower lip to carve the cavity and the implant is tucked insideinside the mouth or in the soft tissue just underneath the chin area.
For a cheek implantation surgery an incision will be made either behind the patient’s upper lip or the lower eyelid. A cavity is then formed and an implant is inserted.
A lower-jaw implant surgical procedure requires internal incisions to be made on both sides of the lower lip to supply entry for creating a pouch into which the lower-jaw implant can be tucked.
The severity and duration of discomfort and swelling may vary, especially if another procedure of cosmetic surgery was performed at the same time.
