Gastric Banding involves locating a band around the stomach. According to Dr Behnaz Yazdanfar, This surgery is usually conducted with the application of a laproscope. Gastric banding aids the patient with the realization of more longstanding weight loss by limiting the amount of food that that can be: Eaten at any one time, limiting the craving for food, and retarding digestion.
The gastric band segregates the stomach into a compact upper compartment above the band and a portion below the gastric band, Dr Yazdanfar. This small division restricts the amount of food that a patient can injest at any one meal, and cause a sensation of fullness upon after consuming just a small amount of food.
Managing the degree of the aperture (stoma) between the two portions of the stomach controlls the quantity of food that crosses from the upper to the lower portion of the stomach by Dr Behnaz Yazdanfar.
