Facial implants are prosthetic appliances introduced under the skin of the patient’s face to modify the underlying structure to enhance the form of specific features of the chin, cheek, or lower jaw.
Dr B Yazdanfar says thatDuring the surgical procedure for a chin implantation, the surgeon identifies the correct shape and size for the implant to enhance the patient’s face and introduces it into a pocket over the anterior of the mandible. The small incision is cut following the bottom lower lip to fashion the pouch and the implant is deposited insideinside the mouth or within the skin just underneath the chin area.
For a cheek implant procedure an incision will be cut either behind the patient’s top lip or the bottom eyelid. A pocket is then created and the implant is tucked inside.
A lower-jaw implantation surgical operation calls for internal incisions to be cut on either side of the lower lip to render an entry for fashioning a cavity into which the lower-jaw implant can be tucked.
The severity and duration of swelling and discomfort may vary, particularly if a second procedure of cosmetic surgery was executed at the same time.
