Facial implants are prosthetic devices placed under the soft tissue of the face to alter the underlying structure to refine the shape of certain elements of the chin, cheek, or lower jaw.

Dr Behnaz Yazdanfar says thatDuring the procedure for a chin implantation, the surgeon selects the fitting shape and size for the implant to enhance the patient’s appearance and encloses it into a cavity over the anterior of the jawbone. The small incision is cut following the lower lower lip to create the cavity and the implant is placed withininside the mouth or in the skin just under the chin area.
For a cheek implantation procedure an incision will be made either behind the patient’s top lip or the bottom eyelid. A pouch is then formed and the implant is deposited inside.
A lower-jaw implantation surgery calls for internal incisions to be cut on either side of the bottom lip to supply an entrance for establishing a cavity into which the lower-jaw implant can be tucked.

The duration and severity of discomfort and swelling may vary, depending if another procedure of cosmetic surgery was performed in conjunction.
